Word Wise — Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Word Wise is published by Idabyte Ltd ("Idabyte", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. This privacy policy explains how the Word Wise iOS app handles information. It covers the app only. These web pages are covered by the Idabyte privacy policy, which explains the optional analytics they use.

2. Information we collect
None.
Word Wise does not collect any personal data, contact information, location data, identifiers, usage data, or analytics. Specifically:
- We do not require an account or sign-up.
- We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting tools, or tracking software development kits (SDKs).
- We do not access contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location.
- The app does not use cookies, pixels, or similar tracking technologies.
3. Information stored on your device
Word Wise stores your learning progress — such as vocabulary you have practised, your XP, streaks, levels, and badges — locally on your device. This information stays on your iPhone or iPad. It is not transmitted to Idabyte or any third party.
If you delete the app, this information is deleted along with it.
4. Children's privacy
Word Wise is for ages 4 and up and is built for children preparing for the UK 11+ exam. We take children's privacy seriously and have built the app to comply with:
- The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code) issued by the Information Commissioner's Office.
- The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including provisions for the protection of children.
- The United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Apple's App Store Review Guidelines for the Kids Category, including the prohibition on third-party analytics, third-party advertising, and behavioural tracking.
Because Word Wise collects no personal information at all, no information is collected from children either. There is nothing to access, no profiles to share, and no data to sell.
5. Third-party services
Word Wise does not integrate with any third-party services, social networks, advertising platforms, or external APIs. Apple's standard App Store services (such as in-app purchase, if used in future versions) are governed by Apple's own privacy policy, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
If we ever introduce optional features that require any data processing (for example, optional cloud sync via iCloud), we will update this policy and clearly explain what changes before those features become available.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, you have rights including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Because Word Wise collects no personal data, there is no information for us to access, correct, or delete on our servers — but you can clear all app data at any time by deleting the app from your device.
If you believe your rights have been violated, you can contact the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or your local data protection authority.
7. Security
Because all app data stays on your device, security is largely provided by Apple's built-in iOS protections, including device-level encryption when your device is locked. We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and using a passcode.
8. International users
Word Wise is available worldwide on the App Store. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, there is no international data transfer.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example if we add new features that handle data differently. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice within the app or on this page.
